Dr. Yen Nee Wong is a Research Fellow at Edinburgh Napier University's School of Applied Sciences. Her research focuses on intersections of gender/sexuality studies, criminology, and media sociology. She leads projects like the EPSRC-funded 3PO initiative addressing police professionals' online privacy risks, and explores transgender inclusivity in sports via Dancesport studies. Her work also examines modern slavery in hospitality sectors and algorithmic media governance. Wong has published in top journals like Police Practice and Research and Media, Culture and Society, and collaborates with institutions like the Scottish Institute for Policing Research.
Research interests include queer representation in media, organizational justice in policing, and ethical labor practices. Her recent work proposes innovative frameworks like the '(in)conspicuous exploitariat' concept for labor exploitation analysis.
