Yasmine Kotturi

Yasmine Kotturi is an Assistant Professor in the Human-Centered Computing group within the Department of Information Systems at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). She is also an Affiliate Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at UMBC. Her research focuses on human-centered AI, the future of work, and community-engaged research, particularly in supporting worker resilience amid technological change. Dr. Kotturi holds a Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University, where she was advised by Chinmay Kulkarni, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship under Jeffrey Bigham at CMU.

Research Interests

Dr. Kotturi’s work bridges human-computer interaction and societal challenges, emphasizing equitable technology adoption and community-driven solutions. Her projects, such as BizChat and Peerdea, co-design technology with small businesses and creative entrepreneurs to address barriers in AI adoption and peer support. She explores how social networks and community partnerships can foster resilience in rapidly changing work environments.
