Yasmine Bouzoraa is a PhD candidate and lecturer in EU Law at the University of Groningen (RUG), Faculty of Law. She holds a BMus in Music Performance & Songwriting, an LL.B in Dutch Law, an LL.M in European Economic Law (summa cum laude), and an MA in Legal Research (cum laude). Currently, she is also a Visiting Scholar at Columbia University in New York. Her research focuses on EU constitutional and institutional law, competition law, and the intersection of constitutional principles with substantive legal frameworks. She teaches EU law courses, supervises theses, and serves on academic committees including the Programme Committee for the LLB in International and European Law and the Library Committee at RUG.
Her research interests emphasize judicial law-making, democratic governance within EU legal structures, and modernizing competition law to address digital market challenges. She frequently publishes on topics like the role of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) in shaping EU legal order dynamics and enforcing competition principles against dominant digital platforms. Her work bridges legal analysis with political and economic realities, offering critical insights into regulatory frameworks.
Bouzoraa’s academic contributions include peer-reviewed articles on EU competition law cases, state aid, and the CJEU’s jurisprudence. She also engages in ancillary roles such as internship coordination for European law departments and volunteer work at Het Overweeghuis. Her recent publications reflect a trend toward analyzing digital platforms’ legal challenges under EU competition law and exploring the evolving balance between judicial authority and institutional competences in EU governance.
