Yanzhong Huang is a Professor and Director of the Center for Global Health Studies at Seton Hall University's School of Diplomacy and International Relations. He also serves as a Senior Fellow for Global Health at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), directing their Global Health Governance roundtable series. He is affiliated with the Center for Foreign Policy Studies and has held visiting roles at institutions like the National University of Singapore and the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
Dr. Huang earned his BA and MA from Fudan University (China) and his PhD from the University of Chicago. His research focuses on Chinese health politics, global health security, and US-China relations. He authored influential books including Governing Health in Contemporary China (2013), Toxic Politics (2020), and The COVID-19 Pandemic and China’s Global Health Leadership (2022). He has testified before U.S. congressional committees and advises governments, NGOs, and media on global health and China-related issues.
He was recognized as one of New Jersey's '20 Brainiest People' in 2012 and holds memberships in organizations like the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations and the CSIS Bipartisan Alliance for Global Health Security. His teaching includes courses on global health governance, US-China relations, and bioterrorism.
