Professor Yannis Tsalavoutas holds the position of Professor in Accounting & Finance at the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow. He previously served as a Lecturer in Accounting at the University of Stirling and has held roles as an accountant in Greece and a financial analyst at Company Reporting Ltd. His research focuses on financial accounting under IFRS, mandatory disclosures, and capital market consequences, with emphasis on sustainability reporting and corporate governance. He has contributed to over 49 publications in top journals such as British Accounting Review and Journal of Business Finance & Accounting.
Education includes a BSc from Technological Educational Institute of Athens, an MBA from University of Stirling (specializing in Corporate Finance), and a PhD from University of Edinburgh. He leads the Adam Smith Observatory for Corporate Reporting Practices and advises doctoral students on topics like financial reporting quality and sustainability disclosures.
He serves on editorial boards for British Accounting Review and Journal of International Accounting, Auditing and Taxation, and holds roles in professional bodies like ACCA Global Forum and ICAS Corporate & Financial Reporting Panel. Research grants include funding from ACCA, ICAS, and the University of Economics Katowice.
