Yannick Moret is a Directeur de Recherche (Research Director) at the Université Bourgogne Franche Comté, France, within the UMR 6282 Biogéosciences laboratory's Evolutionary Ecology Team. His research focuses on host-parasite interactions and ecological immunology, using freshwater amphipods (Gammarus spp.) and mealworm beetles (Tenebrio molitor) as model organisms. Key projects include studying immunosuppressive parasites' effects on host immune defenses, dietary carotenoids' role in immunity, and transgenerational immune priming in insects. Moret holds a PhD from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) and has held CNRS research positions since 2005. He has published extensively on topics like immune system costs, parasite resistance, and evolutionary trade-offs in invertebrates.
- Education:
- 2001: PhD, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich), Switzerland
- 1996: Diplôme d'Études Approfondies (DEA), Université de Tours, France
His research interests emphasize understanding how ecological factors shape immune strategies, particularly in invertebrates. Recent work explores transgenerational immunity, immune priming specificity, and the interplay between nutrition and immune function. Notable contributions include studies on immune memory mechanisms in invertebrates and the role of carotenoids in modulating immunopathology.
Collaborations include international projects at the University of Sheffield (UK) and work on genome-scale analyses of mealworm beetles. Moret’s publications span journals like Proceedings of the Royal Society B, Developmental and Comparative Immunology, and Trends in Parasitology, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach to ecological immunology.
