Yann DESMET is a Researcher at the IEMN Laboratory (UMR 8520) affiliated with Université de Lille. His work focuses on optoelectronic systems for high-frequency signal processing, particularly developing resonant cavity photoconductors to overcome time-jitter limitations in microwave signal subsampling. His research addresses non-linear modeling to reduce harmonic generation in photoconductive devices.
Education: Pursuing a PhD at IEMN since June 2014, specializing in non-linearity studies of resonant cavity photoconductive switches for THz and microwave applications.
Research interests include THz technology, photoconductor design, nonlinear dynamics in optoelectronic systems, and nanotechnology-driven sensor development. His projects emphasize integrating femtosecond laser control with GaAs-based materials to achieve ultra-low jitter signal processing.
He collaborates with the PHOTONIQUE THz research group at IEMN, contributing to advancements in terahertz photonics and millimeter-wave detection. Current studies involve optimizing resonant cavity geometries and nitrogen-ion-implanted GaAs for enhanced THz photomixer performance.
