Dr. Yang Yu is a PartTime Lecturer at the University of Technology Sydney's Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. His academic focus centers on civil and structural engineering with specialized expertise in smart materials, structural health monitoring, and concrete technology. He serves as Associate Editor for Frontiers in Materials and holds committee membership in the Oceania Division of the International Society for Structural Health Monitoring of Intelligent Infrastructure (ISHMII).
Dr. Yu's research encompasses concrete mix design, structural condition assessment, and the development of smart material systems. His work integrates experimental mechanics with computational approaches including machine learning and Bayesian methods for structural evaluation. Current investigations focus on damage assessment techniques for concrete structures, fire resistance of composite materials, and sustainable construction technologies.
Analysis of Dr. Yu's recent publications reveals three primary research streams: advanced damage detection methodologies using wave propagation and machine learning; performance evaluation of novel composite materials under extreme conditions; and sustainable material development for construction applications. His work consistently demonstrates integration of experimental validation with computational modeling approaches.
Dr. Yu teaches undergraduate courses in Structural Analysis (48349) and Engineering Mechanics (48321).
