Tao Yu

Professor Tao Yu is an Honorary Fellow at the University of Wollongong (UoW), Australia, and Co-Director of the International Centre for Composites in Infrastructure (ICCI). He holds a BEng from Zhejiang University (2001) and a PhD from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2007). His research focuses on composite materials in infrastructure, particularly FRP applications for structural strengthening and advanced finite element analysis. Key contributions include a 3D plastic-damage model for FRP-confined concrete and innovations in hybrid composite structures. He has authored over 120 publications and contributed to Chinese national standards.

Prof Yu has secured significant funding, including ARC grants for FRP-concrete-steel hybrid columns and nanoscience-based materials. He serves on editorial boards of journals like Advances in Structural Engineering and Journal of Building Structures. His supervision includes multiple PhD/MPhil students focusing on hybrid columns, FRP-reinforced concrete, and geopolymer applications. His work emphasizes sustainable infrastructure and interdisciplinary collaboration through ICCI.
