Dr. Yaliu He is an Associate Professor in the Marriage and Family Therapy Department at Iona College. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, an M.Ed. from Tsinghua University, and a B.S. from Beijing Normal University. Dr. He is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (NY & MN), an AAMFT Clinical Fellow, and an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. Her research focuses on psychotherapy outcomes, children’s mental health in trauma contexts, and culturally responsive parenting. She is recognized for her work in Integrative Systemic Therapy (IST), a multi-theoretical approach to therapy.
Dr. He’s professional roles include serving as an Associate Editor for Family Process (2018–2023) and Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Marital and Family Therapy (since 2021). Her teaching spans courses in intimate relationships, family therapy with children and adolescents, and research methodologies. She actively contributes to the community through clinical supervision, therapy services, and research consultation.
Her publications emphasize systemic therapy processes, family resilience during crises, and the effectiveness of client-centered approaches in improving therapy outcomes. Her work bridges theoretical integration with practical applications, particularly for at-risk populations.
