Monique E. Willis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling and Family Sciences at Loma Linda University, where she also serves as Director of Clinical Training for the Marital and Family Therapy Programs. She holds a PhD (2014) and MS (2004) in Marital and Family Therapy from Loma Linda University.
- Professional Licenses: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) since 2011
- Memberships: American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT Approved Supervisor), American Family Therapy Academy (AFTA), American Educational Research Association (AERA)
Her research focuses on intersectional justice, health equity, and the nurturance of Black and brown women’s leadership in academia, alongside caregiver dynamics in chronic illness contexts and therapist self-care. She has contributed to scholarly works such as a 2021 chapter on fostering activism in counseling programs.
Community Engagement: Serves on the AAMFT Election Council (2020–present) and SAMHSA/AAMFT Minority Fellowship Advisory Board (2020–present).
