Christiana I. Awosan, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor and Program Director in the Marriage & Family Therapy Department at Iona University. She holds a Ph.D. from Drexel University, an MA and BS from Syracuse University, and is licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in NY and NJ. Dr. Awosan specializes in diversity, inclusion, and social justice, focusing on cultural responsive clinical practices and training Marriage and Family Therapists. Her research addresses sociocultural trauma, particularly racial trauma’s impact on mental and relational health among Black and People of Color communities. She conducts national and international trainings and has been featured in media such as NBC News and PIX11 for her expertise on topics including sleep disruption linked to police violence exposure and conflict resolution during holidays.
