معرفی
Dr. Yalin Dong is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Akron's College of Engineering and Polymer Science. He joined UA in 2013 after completing his Ph.D. at Purdue University. His research focuses on Surface Engineering, Tribology and Lubrication, Advanced Manufacturing, and Laser Matter Interaction. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles and secured grants from NSF, NSF-CenTiRe, and CSETL. Dr. Dong is affiliated with the SEAM Lab (https://seamlab.uakron.edu/) and teaches courses in Fluid Mechanics and Modelling of Materials.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Purdue University, 2013
- M.S. in Applied Physics, University of Science and Technology of China, 2008
- B.S. in Applied Physics, University of Science and Technology of China, 2005
Research Interests:
Dr. Dong's work emphasizes surface engineering techniques such as laser-assisted ultrasonic nanocrystal surface modification, laser shock peening, and material processing for enhanced mechanical properties. His studies address corrosion repair, fatigue performance improvement, and material strengthening in aerospace and biomedical applications. He employs analytical modeling and molecular dynamics simulations to understand microstructural evolution and tribological behavior.
