Pradeep Menezes

Pradeep Menezes is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). His primary research focuses on tribology, surface engineering, and advanced manufacturing, with a strong emphasis on sustainable materials and lubrication technologies. He earned his Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (2008) and held postdoctoral positions at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of Pittsburgh. His work spans experimental and computational studies in areas such as self-lubricating composites, laser surface texturing, and bio-based lubricants.

Dr. Menezes has authored over 105 peer-reviewed journal articles, 4 books, and 84 conference papers. His research has been recognized with awards including the First Rank in Master of Technology (1999) and a Ministry of Human Resource Development Scholarship (2003–2008). He serves on editorial boards and as a reviewer for over 50 journals and has supervised 6 graduate students.

His teaching portfolio includes courses such as Introduction to Tribology, Advanced Tribology, and Surface Engineering. Key research projects involve designing durable surfaces via laser shock peening, developing bio-based ionic liquid lubricants, and numerical modeling of rock drilling tribology.
