Dr. Yael Zeira is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Syracuse University, affiliated with the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and the Middle Eastern Studies Program. Her research focuses on Middle East politics, comparative politics, and political conflict and violence.

- B.A. in Political Science and International Studies from Yale University (2003)
Zeira's work examines unarmed resistance in Palestine and the dynamics of protest allyship. She uses social media analysis to study ethnic conflict and political participation in the Middle East and Africa.
Recent publications include a book titled The Revolution Within (Cambridge University Press, 2019) and journal articles in Perspectives on Politics and The Journal of Peace Research. Her research has been supported by grants from the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation and Syracuse University's Middle Eastern Studies Program.

Zeira teaches courses on Middle East politics, social movements, and political conflict. She serves as Research Director for the International and Intrastate Conflict Cluster at PARCC and is actively involved in academic service roles including committee memberships and faculty advising.
