Yaara Tal

Yaara Tal is a Senior Lecturer in the Keyboard Department at Mozarteum University, part of the School of Music & Art Education. She co-leads the internationally renowned piano duo 'Tal & Groethuysen', focusing on chamber music performance and pedagogy. Since 2014, they have supervised the master's program in piano duo at Mozarteum University, following their prior role at the University of Music and Theatre Munich since 2004.

Education:

• Rubin Music Academy (Tel Aviv): Piano studies with Arie Vardi, composition with Abel Ehrlich and André Hajdu
• Hochschule für Musik München: Advanced studies with Hugo Steurer and Ludwig Hoffmann (DAAD scholarship recipient)

Artistic Highlights: Regular performances at venues like the Berlin Philharmonie, Wiener Musikverein, and Lucerne Festival. Their discography on Sony Classical includes landmark recordings of Schubert and Mozart's complete works for piano duo, earning nine German Record Critics' Prizes, five Echo Prizes, and the Cannes Classical Award.

Teaching & Outreach: Pedagogical focus through masterclasses globally. Pioneered an NHK educational TV series on piano duo techniques (1995). Active in curriculum development for specialized piano duo training programs.

Repertoire & Legacy: Specializes in 18th-19th century classical works with emphasis on collaborative performance. Their recordings often feature world premiere editions, redefining the piano duo repertoire.
