Dr. Y. Falami Devoe is an Adjunct Professor at Antioch University’s Graduate School of Leadership and Change. She is a Womanist Scholar-Activist, PhotoArtist, and poet whose work centers Black women’s experiences of resilience, resistance, and liberation across race, class, gender, identity, and sexuality. Her interdisciplinary practice integrates mindfulness, art, poetry, and photovoice methodology to foster healing and critical inquiry in educational and community settings.
- Education: PhD in Leadership and Change (Antioch University), MA in Leadership and Change (Antioch), MA in Educational Leadership (Antioch), BA in English (Hampton University), and holistic certification from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
Dr. Falami’s research and facilitation focus on decolonized pedagogy, pleasure womanism/feminism, and self-care rituals for BIPOC women. She has taught courses like “Educating Black Girls” and led workshops at the National Women’s Studies Association and National Council of Black Studies conferences. Her teaching strategy leverages popular culture as a springboard for critical thinking about identity and societal norms.
