Xóchitl Alvizo is an Associate Professor of Religious Studies at California State University, Northridge, affiliated with the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences and the Queer Studies program. She holds a PhD in Practical Theology from Boston University (2015) and has been a Department Chair since 2015.

Her research focuses on feminism and religion, Emerging Church movements, and feminist ecclesiology. She explores intersections of gender, religion, and social activism, particularly within millennial religious communities and Latina/o contexts. Her work bridges theological scholarship with grassroots religious practice.
Alvizo co-founded the global online platform Feminism and Religion, fostering dialogue between feminist scholarship and religious activism. Her publications examine radical economics in Wesleyan congregations, revolutionary feminist theology, and the role of millennials in religious transformation.
