Dr. Xunwu Chen is a tenured Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Classics at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), affiliated with the College of Liberal and Fine Arts. His academic work bridges Confucianism, Kantian philosophy, and contemporary political theory, with a focus on cosmopolitanism, global justice, and phenomenological realism. He has presented at international conferences in China, Spain, Canada/USA, and the UK.
His research spans metaphysics, ethics, and cross-cultural political philosophy. Recent publications analyze the ontological implications of Confucian ethics, the epistemic role of mind cultivation, and democratic theory through East-West lenses. Articles from 2018-2024 explore topics like ethical personalism, mind-body dualism, and universal moral contracts.
Dr. Chen’s work engages with phenomenology, Kantian reason, and neo-Confucian thought. His 2019 critique of Habermasian cosmopolitanism proposes a UK constitutional model for global governance. Earlier studies (2004-2017) examine toleration as obligation, justice as constellation, and democratic struggles in China.
