Xue (Cher) Xing is an Associate Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), specializing in Career and Technical Education (CTE). She holds a Ph.D. in Workforce Education from the University of Georgia and has been at UNLV since 2016. Her research focuses on CTE's role in student learning, workforce preparation, and career development across diverse populations.
Dr. Xing has extensive expertise in applied quantitative analysis and has published widely in journals such as Career and Technical Education Research and Journal of Career Development. She serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Research in Technical Careers.
Her research interests include college and career readiness, CTE program effectiveness, and the career capital framework. She has conducted studies on individualized learning plans, employment-oriented interventions for students with disabilities, and pandemic-era leadership in CTE.
Dr. Xing has received numerous awards, including the 2020 Distinguished Research Award from UNLV and the 2019 Outstanding Beginning Scholar Award from the Association for Career and Technical Education Research (ACTER). Her work emphasizes equity and evidence-based practices in educational policy and program design.
She holds a Shanghai Undergraduate Excellence Award (2011) and has received prestigious fellowships such as the AERA-Spencer Minority Meta-Analysis Fellowship (2020-21). Her research bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications, influencing both academic discourse and real-world educational strategies.
