Professor Xu Qingbo holds the position of Professor in Clinical Pharmacology at the William Harvey Research Institute, Queen Mary University of London (UK), with prior roles including BHF John Parker Chair of Cardiovascular Sciences at King’s College London and Professorships at St George’s University of London and Austrian institutions. His research focuses on vascular biology, atherosclerosis, and stem cell applications in cardiovascular diseases. He has authored over 80 highly cited papers and trained 22 MD/PhD students who now hold professorial positions globally.
Education: MD from University of Innsbruck Medical School (Austria). Key contributions include discovering DKK3’s atheroprotective role, developing tissue-engineered vascular grafts, and identifying progenitor cell roles in atherosclerosis. He coordinates EU research initiatives and promotes international collaboration as President of the Academy of Life Science for Chinese in the UK.
