Xinxin Chen serves as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow within the Department of Chemistry and Bioscience at Aalborg University's Faculty of Engineering and Science. Her research concentrates on advanced membrane technologies and disordered materials for environmental applications, particularly wastewater treatment and water purification systems.
Her primary research domains include membrane technology, water treatment engineering, disordered materials science, supramolecular chemistry, bioelectrosynthesis, and nanofiltration processes. She specializes in developing hybrid membrane systems incorporating metal-organic frameworks and graphene oxide to address separation challenges in industrial and municipal wastewater streams, with emphasis on fouling resistance and separation efficiency.
Analysis of her 2024-2025 publications reveals concentrated innovation in membrane distillation-photolysis integration for saline effluents, solid-liquid separation optimization using biobased flocculants, and nanostructured membrane design. Her work demonstrates strong interdisciplinary convergence between materials chemistry and environmental engineering, frequently addressing real-world industrial wastewater challenges through novel material synthesis.
Dr. Chen actively contributes to the Novo Nordisk-funded project "Enzymatic Bioelectrosynthesis for Developing Novel Pharmaceuticals" (2023-2028) as a research participant, collaborating with principal investigator Xiao and team members Wolfhagen on pharmaceutical development applications. Her research outputs show significant academic impact, with multiple publications garnering substantial Scopus citations and Mendeley readership.
She operates within Aalborg University's Section of Applied Supramolecular Chemistry and Functional Amorphous Materials, participating in collaborative networks focused on sustainable material solutions for global water challenges through both fundamental and applied research initiatives.
