Xinliang Feng

Professor Xinliang Feng holds the Chair of Molecular Functional Materials at Dresden University of Technology within the Department of Chemistry and Food Chemistry. His research program focuses on cutting-edge materials science with emphasis on two-dimensional systems and molecular functional materials.

His research interests include:

• Synthesis and characterization of two-dimensional conjugated polymers and frameworks
• Exploration of heteroaromatic and antiaromatic atom-precise nanographenes
• Development of redox-active covalent organic frameworks for battery applications
• Investigation of magnetic and electronic properties in graphene-based superlattices
• Creation of novel electrocatalytic coordination networks
• Engineering of MXene-organic semiconductor blends for printed electronics

Professor Feng's work demonstrates a strong integration of synthetic chemistry with materials characterization to develop functional materials with tailored electronic, magnetic, and catalytic properties. His research program bridges fundamental science with potential applications in energy storage, electronics, and catalysis.

He serves as speaker for the Collaborative Research Center SFB 1415: 'Chemistry of Synthetic Two-Dimensional Materials' and participates in the Graduate School GRK 2861: 'Planar Carbon Lattices.' His leadership extends to multiple sub-projects within Collaborative Research Centers focused on 2D conjugated polymer scaffolds, synthesis of 2D polymers at liquid interfaces, and 2D field-effect transistors.

Professor Feng has secured significant research funding through Priority Programs, Material Grants, and Collaborative Research Centers. His research portfolio demonstrates consistent productivity in advanced materials synthesis and characterization, with particular emphasis on creating novel two-dimensional materials systems with precisely controlled structures and properties.
