Xin Qian is an Adjunct Associate Professor in Physics and Astronomy at Stony Brook University and a Senior Physicist at Brookhaven National Laboratory. His research addresses fundamental questions in neutrino physics including CP violation mechanisms, neutrino mass origins, and potential new neutrino flavors.
He pioneered the Wire-Cell tomographic reconstruction technique for Liquid Argon Time Projection Chambers (LArTPC), crucial for current experiments including SBN and DUNE. Additional work includes developing the PIONEER experiment to test lepton flavor universality and CKM unitarity through rare pion decays.
