Xin Ma is a Professor, Program Chair, and Program Coordinator for Quantitative and Psychometric Methods at the University of Kentucky. His roles include teaching advanced statistics and mathematics education, and he has held prestigious positions such as Spencer Fellow of the National Academy of Education and former Canada Research Chair. He earned a Master's in Mathematics Education and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of British Columbia. Previously, he taught at St. Francis Xavier University and the University of Alberta in Canada.
Dr. Ma's research focuses on advanced statistical methods, large-scale data analysis, and educational policy. He has authored the book *A National Assessment of Mathematics Participation in the United States: A Survival Analysis Model for Describing Students’ Academic Careers*. His work bridges quantitative research with educational practice, emphasizing the application of statistical theories to policy and practice. He founded and directed the Canadian Center for Advanced Studies of National Databases.
His awards include the Early Career Contribution Award from the American Educational Research Association and recognition as a Canada Research Chair. His research interests span program evaluation, organizational effectiveness in schools, and the psychology of mathematics education.
