Dr. Xin Liu is a Senior Lecturer in Finance at the Australian National University (ANU), affiliated with the Research School of Finance, Actuarial Studies & Statistics. Her research focuses on financial innovation, Fintech, information economics, banking, and the Chinese economy. She holds a PhD in Finance from the National University of Singapore, alongside master’s degrees in Applied Economics and Physics from the University of Minnesota, and a bachelor's in physics from USTC.
Her work explores implications of financial innovations on capital markets, banking systems, and macroeconomic dynamics. Notable contributions include analyses of TARP programs, cross-market spillovers between equities and loans, and the impact of Tobin taxes on financial volatility. Articles have appeared in top journals like the Journal of Financial Economics and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis.
Dr. Liu previously worked at Temasek Holdings and collaborated with Columbia University’s Chazen Institute. She supervises research students and actively engages in interdisciplinary research bridging economics, physics, and finance. Her research spans both developed and emerging markets, with a particular focus on China’s financial dynamics.
