Xiaolong Zhang is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Manchester, working in Professor Sandra Bucci’s digital mental health group. His research focuses on digital mental health interventions for psychosis, with an emphasis on cultural adaptation and accessibility in underserved regions. He holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Manchester (2019–2024), an MSc in Applied Psychology from Beijing Normal University (2016–2018), and an M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri–Columbia (2015–2016).
His expertise spans digital health technologies, passive data analysis (e.g., GPS tracking), and spatial data visualization. Key projects include developing the YouXin app for remote symptom monitoring in psychosis and exploring global mental health challenges in China. He has been recognized with awards such as the 2023 Chinese Government Award and the 2025 SIRS Early Career Award.
Zhang collaborates internationally, contributing to systematic reviews and cross-sectional studies on digital mental health barriers, adverse event reporting, and professional attitudes toward technology. He serves as an associate editor for the Journal of Technology in Behavioral Science and Psychology and Psychotherapy: Theory, Research and Practice, and is an academic expert member of the World Psychiatric Association’s Digital Mental Health Section.
