Xiaodong Fan is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics at Monash University, Australia. His research focuses on Labor Economics, Computational Economics, and Search and Matching theories. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2012), an M.S. in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin (2006), and undergraduate degrees in Automation from Tsinghua University (2003).
His teaching experience includes Principles of Microeconomics (ECC1000) and Intermediate Microeconomics (ECC2000) at Monash University, and Mathematical Economics at the University of New South Wales. He has received multiple teaching awards, including the Monash Department Learning & Teaching Prize in 2020 and 2021.
Dr. Fan's research explores labor market dynamics, retirement behavior, and policy impacts. Notable works include analyses of compulsory education effects on retirement savings, pension system gender gaps, and labor mobility in China. His work integrates computational methods and econometric models to address complex economic questions.
