Dr. Xiangchen Liu serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at California State University, Long Beach, within the College of Health & Human Services. His academic focus lies in consumer affairs, where he teaches courses including Advanced Consumer Analytics.
Dr. Liu's educational journey includes:
- Ph.D. in Consumer Behavior and Family Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison
- M.S. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison
- B.A. in Business Administration from Shandong University, Jinan, China
His research expertise spans Family Economics, Family Policy, Consumer Decision-Making, Fintech, and Health Economics. Dr. Liu employs interdisciplinary methods to analyze household financial behaviors, the effects of policy on family structures, and the intersection of technology and consumer choices in health and finance.
His recent scholarly contribution, Fertility Intentions of China’s One-Child Generation: A Comparative Analysis with the US (Journal of Family Studies, 2024), demonstrates his commitment to comparative demographic studies and family economics.
Dr. Liu has earned significant recognition through awards such as the Richard L.D. Morse Consumer Economics Award (2025) and the Robert O. Herrmann Outstanding Dissertation Award (2025).
