University of Readingمعرفی
Dr. Xiangbo Feng is a Principal Research Fellow in Tropical Cyclones at the University of Reading's Department of Meteorology, with a joint role at Imperial College London. He also serves as a Visiting Professor in Climate Extremes and Coastal Hazards at Hohai University. His research focuses on tropical cyclone variability, extreme weather, coastal hazards, and high-impact weather prediction. He leads and collaborates on projects such as SEA-COAST (Met Office WCSSP) and FORWARDS, addressing tropical cyclone forecasting and climate risks in Southeast Asia.
Key research interests include tropical cyclone dynamics, climate extremes, and improving prediction models. Recent work explores poleward migration of cyclones and marine heatwaves linked to global warming. His studies often combine observational data with advanced climate models, emphasizing decadal prediction systems like DePreSys4.
Notable contributions include seasonal prediction methodologies using deep learning and analyses of equatorial waves as cyclone precursors. Collaborations span institutions globally, reflecting his expertise in interdisciplinary climate science. Grants and projects highlight his role in advancing understanding of compound ocean-atmosphere storms and coastal vulnerability.
