Xi Wang is an Assistant Professor of Physics at Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL), affiliated with the Department of Physics within the College of Arts & Sciences. She holds a PhD from Florida State University and a BS from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Her research focuses on quantum phenomena in low-dimensional materials, particularly 2D heterostructures and moiré superlattices.
Education:
- PhD in Physics, Florida State University
- BS in Physics, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC)
Research interests include condensed matter physics, quantum materials, and strong light-matter interactions. Her lab develops magneto-optical and optoelectronic techniques to study excitons, electrons, and phonons in quantum systems for applications in quantum communication and energy-efficient devices. Current projects explore moiré-induced magnetic properties, tunable quantum simulators, and advanced optoelectronics using perovskites.
Recent achievements include the Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award (2024) and notable contributions to Nature Photonics. She advises graduate and undergraduate researchers such as Tony, Luc, and Tully, and collaborates with institutions like the University of Washington (prior postdoc).
Labs/Teams: Wang Lab at WUSTL, focusing on quantum material synthesis and characterization.
