Xi Chen is an Assistant Professor at the Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University, within the Department of Drug Discovery and Development. He holds a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from the State University of New York at Buffalo and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Georgia.

Chen's research focuses on the synthesis of chemically diverse compounds (nucleosides, nucleotides, heterocyclics, phospholipids, peptides) and the optimization of small-molecule inhibitors targeting diseases such as cancer, influenza, tuberculosis, and viral infections. His work emphasizes improving drug-like properties (bioavailability, delivery) and developing novel molecules against "undruggable" targets like RAS and PDE-10.
He co-founded ADT Pharmaceuticals in 2014 alongside Michael Boyd, Gary Piazza, and Adam Keeton. His career spans roles at institutions including the Southern Research Institute (1998-2012) and the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute (Assistant Professor of Oncologic Sciences, 2013-present).
