Xavier Kalck is a Professor at the University of Lille, affiliated with the Faculty of Languages, Culture and Societies and Department of English Studies - ANGELLIER. His research focuses on American poetry and poetics, Modernism, Jewish diaspora studies, and Ecocriticism, with a particular interest in interpretive practices across historical and philosophical frameworks.

Kalck’s 2019 monograph Pluralism, Poetry, and Literacy explores connections between premodern spiritual reading practices and contemporary analytical methodologies through works by Robert Lax, Larry Eigner, and Gary Snyder. His 2016 edited volume We Said 'Objectivist' examines the legacy of Objectivist poets like George Oppen and Louis Zukofsky in relation to Heideggerian and Marxist thought.
