Wulf Livingston is Professor of Alcohol Studies at Wrexham University. He is a registered social worker whose research focuses on policy evaluation and service provision related to alcohol, drugs, and mental health. His expertise includes qualitative and participatory methodologies, and he teaches PhD, MA/MSc, and post-qualifying students. Professor Livingston serves as co-editor of Practice: Social Work in Action journal and chairs both the Welsh Centre for Alcohol and other Drugs and the British Association of Social Workers Alcohol and other Drugs Special Interest Group. His practice activities involve supporting the North Wales Recovery Community.
Professor Livingston's research examines alcohol and drug policy implementation, treatment accessibility, and recovery frameworks. His work employs mixed-method approaches to understand service user experiences and evaluate policy effectiveness across different populations and contexts.
Recent publications focus on substance abuse interventions, policy evaluations, and the impacts of minimum alcohol pricing across the UK. These works demonstrate consistent attention to treatment accessibility, policy effectiveness, and qualitative exploration of user experiences.
Professor Livingston advises graduate students and contributes to professional development through his editorial role and leadership positions in specialized interest groups. His community engagement includes direct support for recovery initiatives in North Wales.
