Wuding Zhou

Wuding Zhou is a Professor specializing in immunology with a primary research focus on the complement system's role in immune regulation. His work investigates how complement interacts with key immune cells including antigen-presenting cells, natural killer cells, mast cells, and stem cells across various pathological contexts.

Professor Zhou's research interests center on the roles of complement in immune regulation and its participation in immune homeostasis and disease pathogenesis. His work spans antimicrobial defense, cancer elimination, ischemia/reperfusion injury, transplant rejection, autoimmunity, and tissue remodeling. The fingerprint analysis of his work shows strong concentrations in reperfusion (100%), complement component 5a (96%), T cell biology (91%), complement activation (80%), adaptive immune system (61%), and complement biology (58%).

His recent publication trends demonstrate a consistent focus on complement-mediated mechanisms in infectious diseases, particularly kidney and urinary tract infections, as well as autoimmune conditions. The research increasingly employs mouse models to investigate specific complement receptors (C3aR, C5aR) and their therapeutic potential.

Professor Zhou has been actively involved in research projects primarily funded by the Medical Research Council, focusing on complement-related mechanisms in renal transplantation, inflammation, and infection. His activities include chairing the XXI International Complement Workshop, delivering keynote presentations at the Royal Society of Medicine, and serving as an editor for INTERNATIONAL IMMUNOPHARMACOLOGY and Clinical Experimental Immunology journals.
