Chris Andoniou

Chris Andoniou is a Senior Research Fellow in Microbiology at Monash University, specializing in immunology and virology. His work focuses on cytomegalovirus (CMV) pathogenesis, natural killer (NK) cell biology, and immune responses in transplantation. He leads projects aimed at developing therapies against viral infections and their complications in transplant recipients, including overcoming strain-diversity challenges in CMV treatment.

Research Interests: Andoniou’s expertise spans NK cell regulation, viral immune evasion, and translational medicine. His studies explore how CMV establishes latent reservoirs, triggers inflammation, and impacts immune responses, with implications for autoimmune diseases and transplant outcomes.
