Wu Kunfeng

Wu Kunfeng is an Associate Researcher at the Institute of Biochemistry, Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Rutgers University (2004–2010) and holds a Master and Bachelor in Life Sciences from National Tsing Hua University (2000–2002, 1996–2000). Wu previously held positions as Research Assistant (2018–2024) and Assistant Research Scholar (2017–2018) at Academia Sinica, with postdoctoral stints at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (2012–2017) and Rutgers University (2010–2012).

• Research Areas: Protein ubiquitination in disease mechanisms, neurodegenerative disorders (Parkinson's, Alzheimer's) linked to alpha-synuclein aggregation, and drug development using structural biology and synthetic biology.

His work spans ubiquitin signaling in immune suppression during infections (e.g., COVID-19, dengue) and amyloid stacking in neurodegeneration. Recent publications (2025–2022) focus on structural insights into ubiquitin chain recognition, chemokine CCL5 fibril dynamics, and prion/prion-like protein structures. Wu contributes to ubiquitin probe design and amyloid conversion mechanisms, with applications in drug discovery.
