Woody Davis

Woody Davis is an Assistant Professor in the School of Human Development and Family Sciences at Oregon State University. He serves as the Columbia County 4-H Youth Development Professional, with a dual appointment (90% county-based 4-H, 10% statewide 4-H Challenge & Adventure). His work focuses on outdoor education, adventure programming, and community outreach through initiatives like Portable Challenge facilitation, ROPES courses, and wilderness programs for at-risk youth. Davis has over 35 years of experience in 4-H, spanning roles at New Mexico State University and Oregon State University.

His research interests emphasize leveraging outdoor and adventure-based learning to foster youth development, resilience, and leadership. Beyond academia, he actively engages in outdoor activities such as mountain climbing, mountain biking, and overlanding.

He led Extension’s support in Columbia County’s COVID-19 testing clinics, coordinating volunteer efforts for traffic flow, registration, and quality control. His contributions highlight the role of 4-H in community crisis response.
