Mark Scott

Mark Scott serves as an Adjunct Instructor of Expeditionary Studies in the Adventure Sports & Expeditionary Studies Department at SUNY Plattsburgh's School of Education, Health & Human Services. A native of the Adirondacks, he brings extensive field experience from locations including Colorado, Utah, and New Zealand to the program, specializing in outdoor leadership and wilderness education.

His professional focus centers on Expeditionary Studies and Adventure Sports, with core competencies in climbing instruction and at-risk youth counseling. Certified by the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) as a Single Pitch Instructor and Rock Guide Course graduate, his teaching integrates technical outdoor skills with experiential learning methodologies.

Mr. Scott's background emphasizes hands-on wilderness education, leveraging the Adirondack region as a living laboratory for developing student competencies in risk management, environmental stewardship, and expeditionary leadership within academic and therapeutic contexts.
