Assoc Prof Wong Chen-Hsi is an Associate Professor at the School of Art, Design and Media (ADM), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. She holds the Provost’s Chair in Filmmaking and has dual expertise in independent and commercial filmmaking. Her work bridges narrative fiction and documentary forms, focusing on liminal spaces and cultural heritage preservation in Southeast Asia. She served as Acting School Chair of ADM (2022–2024) and Associate Chair for Faculty (2020–2022), driving curricular reforms and faculty development initiatives. She advises the Singapore Film Commission and sits on national media review panels. Educated at the University of Southern California (M.F.A.) and Wesleyan University (B.A.), she co-founded Women in Cinematic Arts to promote gender equity in film.
Her research explores urban ecologies and artistic preservation through practice-based methods. Key awards include Best Director at the Shanghai International Film Festival for *Innocents* (2023), which premiered at Rome IFF. Her films are archived in Singapore’s Asian Film Archives and Objectifs library.
Recent works like *City of Small Blessings* (2024) reflect her engagement with transnational production frameworks through Torino IFF Film Lab and Venice Production Bridge collaborations. She advocates for Singapore’s film industry through policy advisory roles and promotes diverse representation in creative sectors.
