Wolfgang Knoll is the Scientific Managing Director of the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology since 2008. He holds academic roles including Visiting Professorships at Parma University (Italy) and Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Adjunct Professor at Hanyang University (Korea), and a courtesy Professorship in Chemistry at the University of Florida (USA). He previously directed the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (1993–2008) and led the Exotic Nano-Materials Laboratory at RIKEN (Japan, 1991–1999).

Research Interests: Focuses on surface optical techniques, integrated optics, nonlinear optics, nanostructured materials, biosensor development, and biophysical interfaces. His work bridges polymer science, materials engineering, and nanotechnology applications.
