Wolf Sauter

Prof. Wolf Sauter is a Full Professor of Corporate Law at the Faculty of Law of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, affiliated with the Kooijmans Institute and the research group 'Law, Markets and Behavior'. His work focuses on competition law, antitrust enforcement, and consumer protection. He currently holds ancillary roles as a Medewerker at Autoriteit Consument en Markt (ACM) in The Hague and as a Bestuurder at Stichting Recht Voor Klimaat in Amsterdam.

His research interests center on EU competition law dynamics, merger control, market regulation, and the neo-Brandeis movement’s impact on antitrust frameworks. Recent publications explore post-Illumina/Grail merger jurisdiction, responsive competition law theories, and ACM’s regulatory role.

Prof. Sauter teaches advanced courses on Competition Law and has examined multiple PhD theses focusing on financial supervision, energy derivatives, and payment systems. His work emphasizes balancing economic efficiency with public policy in regulatory contexts.
