Wole Akosile

Associate Professor Wole Akosile is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the National Centre for Youth Substance Use Research within the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences at The University of Queensland. He holds a PhD in Psychology from Queensland University of Technology and a Master's degree from The University of Queensland.

• Research Focus: Genetic epidemiology of psychiatric disorders, comorbid mental-physical health conditions, substance use disorder interventions, and policy analysis for mental health service delivery.
• Key Contributions: Investigated genetic links between PTSD and coronary artery disease, evaluated medicinal cannabis/psychopharmacology for trauma treatment, and advocated for youth treatment centers over detention facilities.

Recent Publications span 2025-2023, addressing topics including GLP-1 agonists in metabolic syndrome, transcranial magnetic stimulation in pregnancy, and systematic reviews on OCD-substance use comorbidity.
