Wojciech Browarny is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Polish Literature after 1918 at the University of Wrocław's Institute of Polish Philology. He leads the Regional Research Workshop and is a key figure in Silesian studies. His research focuses on contemporary Polish prose, post-1945 Silesian literary culture, and modernity's anthropological dimensions.
He earned his PhD in 2000 and habilitation in 2014. His work bridges traditional philology with modern interdisciplinary approaches. Notable publications include studies on Tadeusz Różewicz, Silesian literary heritage, and post-war cultural identity. He has edited over 20 volumes on Polish literature and served on the Committee of Literary Sciences at the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Browarny's research emphasizes regional identity, cultural memory, and the interplay between literature and history. His political activism includes roles in the Razem party and advocacy for cultural policies. He lives in Wrocław, actively contributing to academic and public discourse on Polish literary heritage and Silesian cultural identity.
