Dr. Winson Lee is a Senior Lecturer and Discipline Leader of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Wollongong (UoW), where he leads the Biomedical Engineering program. He holds a PhD from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and has held academic roles at institutions like Sichuan University and Queensland University of Technology. His research focuses on biomechanics, wearable technologies, and rehabilitation engineering, particularly addressing mobility challenges in aging populations and individuals with disabilities. He has secured over A$1 million in research grants and published over 60 Scopus-indexed papers.
Dr. Lee’s work emphasizes enhancing gait stability through smart devices and has pioneered projects like the 'Smart Shoe System' and dementia detection via gait analysis. He is an Associate Editor of Physical and Engineering Sciences in Medicine and Topic Editor for Sensors. His clinical background in prosthetics and orthotics combines with engineering expertise to address medical challenges in aging and rehabilitation.
- Education: PhD in Biomedical Engineering (HK PolyU), Bachelor of Prosthetics & Orthotics (HK PolyU)
- Awards: Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowship
His research impacts include improving elderly mobility, stroke patient recovery, and sports biomechanics. Current projects explore wearable biofeedback systems and dementia diagnostics through motion analysis.
