Wim van de Donk is the Rector Magnificus and President of the Executive Board at Tilburg University, a position he has held since October 1, 2020. He is also a full professor of social administration within the Department of Law. His portfolio includes strategic leadership in governance, identity, legal affairs, scientific integrity, education quality, student well-being, and internationalization. He is actively involved in national and institutional policy through roles in the European University Association, Brainport Foundation, and Midpoint Brabant Foundation.
His research interests lie at the intersection of public administration, social administration, governance, and higher education policy. He has contributed extensively to public policy through advisory roles in government, including as President of the Dutch Scientific Council for Government Policy (WRR) and Queen's Commissioner of Noord-Brabant from 2009 to 2020. His work emphasizes institutional integrity, educational innovation, and public sector reform.
Throughout his career, Wim van de Donk has held leadership roles in numerous strategic initiatives, including TUNED IN, Engage 2.0, and Weaving Minds & Characters. He chairs the KUB Endowed Chairs Foundation and serves on the boards of the Tilburg University Fund and the National Committee for May 4 and 5. His governance expertise extends to healthcare through past chairmanship of the Elisabeth Hospital Supervisory Board.

Wim van de Donk earned his PhD in political science and public administration cum laude from the Catholic University of Nijmegen in 1987. He began his academic career at Katholieke Hogeschool Tilburg in 1986, became associate professor at Catholic University Brabant, and was appointed full professor of social administration at Tilburg University in 2002. He remained affiliated with the university throughout his public service roles, maintaining his professorial status.
