Dr. Wilson Maina is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of West Florida, affiliated with the Department of History and Philosophy within the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities. His teaching focuses on biomedical ethics, African philosophy, ethics, world religions, and philosophy of religion. He holds degrees from St. Augustine College, St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary, Boston College, and Fordham University, culminating in a doctorate in theological studies.
His research explores African Christian theology, communitarian ethics, and the intersection of religion with social and political issues. Key works include Historical and Social Dimensions in African Christian Theology: A Contemporary Approach and an upcoming manuscript on African Christian ethics. He serves on the advisory board of the Journal for the Study of Religions and Ideologies and has been recognized with the 2012 Bi-Annual Prize in Religion and Human Rights.
