William Visco

William Visco is an Assistant Professor in the LeBron James Family Foundation School of Education at The University of Akron, where he has been a faculty member since 2020. His primary appointment is in Adolescent Young Adult (AYA) English Language Arts/Literacy Education, and he plays a key role in supervising student teachers and clinical experiences.

Dr. Visco's research focuses on the integration of popular culture and digital technologies within English Language Arts classrooms to enhance student literacy development and engagement. He examines how student and teacher perceptions of pop culture influence classroom dynamics and learning outcomes, and he is dedicated to preparing pre-service teachers with innovative strategies that leverage students' cultural experiences to build social-emotional learning and academic success.

At The University of Akron, Dr. Visco supervises the English Language Arts student teaching program and the UA/Barberton Clinical Experience. He teaches undergraduate and master's level courses in AYA ELA education, emphasizing practical techniques for effective classroom instruction through pop culture integration and technology-enhanced pedagogy.
