William Tate IV

William Tate IV serves as President & Chancellor and Professor at Louisiana State University (LSU) in the Department of Sociology within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. He holds a PhD from the University of Maryland, College Park. His research focuses on social determinants of STEM attainment, epidemiological and geospatial models of educational outcomes, and health disparities. He has led multidisciplinary teams including the 'For the Sake of All' research initiative studying African American health in St. Louis. His work connects researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to improve educational opportunities.

Research interests center on sociology of education, stratification, geospatial science, public health, and urban sociology. He develops tools from psychiatric/legal epidemiology and policy analysis to understand social stratification pathways.
