William Scott is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Pittsburgh, affiliated with the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences. His research focuses on American Literature, African American Literature, poetry/poetics, and linguistics, particularly generative syntax and universal grammar. He holds a PhD and has authored works such as *Troublemakers: Power, Representation, and the Fiction of the Mass Worker* (2012). His current projects include studies on Evie Shockley’s poetry and jazz poetry syntax.
